A team of 16 volunteers – some as young as six – helped tidy a stretch of towpath along the Grand Union Canal.
Members of Hindu Youth Group MK were taking part in Sewa Day, an international movement embedded in Indian tradition that involves acts of kindness performed selflessly.
They started at Fenny Stratford and collected nine bags of rubbish which were removed by the Canal & River Trust for recylcing.
Trust spokesman John Highmore said: “The group did a brilliant job. In just one day the canal already looks so much better. It just goes to show that if we all work together we can achieve great things and really make a difference.”
