A teenager escaped the clutches of a man who attempted to rape her while she was out walking her dog on Friday.

The 18-year-old ran home and called the police after being pushed to the ground in Oakridge Park near the Grand Union Canal at around 2pm.

The offender is a 25-35 year-old man, 5ft 10ins, medium build, with brown eyes and an accent. He was wearing a black beanie hat and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Det Chief Insp Kelly Glister said: “This incident took place during the day.

“People may have seen or heard something when it happened and I would ask them to contact the police on 101 with any information, no matter how small the detail.

“There will be extra patrols in the area offering advice and reassurance and anyone with any concerns can contact 101.

“TVP takes all reports of this nature extremely seriously and we will be conducting a thorough investigation.

“At this early stage of the investigation we do not believe the incident is linked to any other recent reports.”
