RECORD breaking crowds came to the Theatre District on Sunday to see the Christmas lights switched on.

During the two-hour long show, families were treated to a whole host of entertainment, kicked off by a brilliant Olly Murs tribute act by Jo from Real Music MK.

Local lad Scott Finley followed on and wowed the audience with his double A single tracks ‘Invisible Me’ and ‘Christmas is Here’ with a little help from local school children from Emerson Valley Middle School.

They were also joined by the energetic MKCA Cheerleaders, and the outstanding dance crew Limitless, who are desperately trying to raise funds so they can take up their place at the World Championships in Florida next year. Both groups combined their routines to provide the audience with 15 minutes of immense energy and showcased every age group’s spectacular talent.

Father Christmas was on hand to make sure all the children were being good and Keith Emmett’s rides proved as popular as ever, raising lots of vital funds for this year’s charity.

MK Rock Choir led the crowds in a selection of favourite carols as well as providing a great performance earlier in the event; and Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without a brass band, and none better in Milton Keynes than MK Brass.

Sara Mills, Marketing Manager on the Theatre District said: “It was our most successful Christmas event to date and our tree looks absolutely stunning. It is a pleasure to be able to support local charities like Air Ambulance and the MK Food Bank, who were collecting donations on the day, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who gave their time to help make this event the triumph it was,”
