A shark-crazy scuba dive instructor who dresses up as a mermaid plans to make a splash with her new business venture.

Sarah Daily, who has swam in the sea with 12 different species of sharks, has donned her fishy tail and sparkly costume to launch herself as MK’s First Aid Mermaid.

“As well as my passion for the sea and scuba diving, I also have a passion as a first aid trainer. I want to ensure that EVERYONE knows basic life support and how important it is,” she said.

Sarah, who runs PADI Scuba School in Bletchley, wants to push teaching of these skills in schools, homes, and private businesses all over MK.

Between bookings she plans to hire herself out as a ‘real-life mermaid’ to appear at parties, functions and corporate events.

“I’m just a scuba diving instructor from Milton Keynes who has decided to go one step further and become a real mermaid!” she said.

Fascinated by sharks, Sarah hopes her mermaid costume will help raise awareness of what an important part the species plays in ocean conservation.

Meanwhile she is also introducing free-diving courses to members of her scuba diving school.

Using only breath holding techniques, free divers can achieve the same depths as scuba divers, says Sarah.
