Three Africans who were arrested in a churchyard on Monday have been detained by immigration officers.
As revealed by the Citizen this week, two adults and a minor from Eritrea were found in the grounds of St Peter and St Paul Church in Newport Pagnell at 9.20am, after a tip-off from the public.
Home Office Immigration Enforcement has detained the adults on suspicion of immigration offences while their cases are progressed. The minor is in the care of social services.
A spokesman said: “The Immigration Act of 2014 made it harder for people to live in the UK illegally.
“Where someone is found to have no legal right to remain in the UK we will take action to remove them.”
