A teenager has been sentenced to more than three years in a young offenders institute for robberies across the city.

Lee Wickham, 18, of Temple, Stantonbury, was sentenced to three years and three months when he appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday.

Following a trial, Wickham was found guilty of a robbery in Saxon Street on the morning of January 7 which saw him approach a 16-year-old boy and initially ask him for the time, before demanding his mobile phone.

The second robbery, to which Wickham pleaded guilty, related to an incident outside Stantonbury Campus on the morning of January 9.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, was approached by Wickham, who asked him for the time. After telling Wickham the time, the victim walked off, but Wickham then pulled him to the floor.

After an altercation Wickham grabbed the phone and ran. The victim and a friend chased Wickham, who eventually gave the phone back.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises during the incident.

Wickham also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody at an appointed time, an offence under the Bail Act.
