MORE than 3,000 runners braved torrential rain and strong winds to compete in yesterday’s Green City Marathon.
Commonwealth Games medallist Liz Yelling started the race at 10am, with runners setting off from outside Milton Keynes Dons’ home of stadium:mk
Despite the horrific conditions, many of the competitors donned fancy dress costumes and spectators lined the course.
The race was won by Dave Mitchinson of Mizuno Race Team in a time of two hours 41 minutes and 54 seconds. Yvette Grice was first woman home in three hours 23 seconds. The 26.2 mile run concluded inside stadium:mk
Race Director Andy Hully said: “The spirit and determination shown by runners, volunteers and spectators has been truly amazing.”
