Town horticultural show is growing

The Newport Pagnell Horticultural Show will celebrate its 203rd year on September 1 after growing and showing since 1809.

This year instead of charging an entry fee to enter the various classes, they are asking for donations from entrants. So get growing if you are entering the sections for flowers, pot plants, fruit or vegetables, or get making if you have preserves, cakes or handicraft to display.

People who have an eye for art can also enter the photography competitions. There is also a special section for allotment holders to enter, and a children’s section, which includes a miniature seed tray garden, a photo of a pet, an animal made from a vegetable or small cakes to be baked.

The show has been growing and becoming more popular each year. Entry forms can be obtained from the Offices of the Newport Pagnell Town Council at 80 High Street, Newport Pagnell or email

They had the biggest number of exhibitors last year ever, and they are hoping even more will join in either as an exhibitor or as a visitor in September.
