Milton Keynes has one of the slowest motorways in the country, a survey has claimed today

Researchers from price comparison website comparethemarket looked at the average speeds on the country's motorways to reveal the slowest sections and areas.

And Milton Keynes came out as the fourth worst stretch, with n average speed of 48.4mph.

The local authority with the slowest motorways was Hounslow in Greater London, where part of the M4 comes into the capital at an average speed of just 39.3 miles per hour.

Second was Sandwell with 40.4mph and third was Coventry with 48.0mph.

The slowest single stretch however was at the Dartford Crossing northbound near Littlebrook. Here the average speed is 24.6mph.
