The A421 will be closed between Eagle Farm roundabout and up to Junction 13, both east and westbound, from 8pm on Friday june 19 until 6pm on Monday June 22.

The work is part of the £29m A421 upgrade scheme being carried out jointly by Milton Keynes Council and Central Bedfordshire Council.

An MK Council spokesman said: "The closure will allow essential works to take place, including the bridleway bridge beam lifting into place, asphalt laying and white lining works."

The M1 will still be open and a diversion route on A422 will be signposted.

The two councils say the upgraded road will provide future and existing residents with greater opportunities for leisure activities, housing and employment. It will also help take traffic away from local parishes, increase safety, and benefit local businesses as well as commuters.

SEMLEP's Local Growth Fund is providing £23.5m worth of funding for the project. Both Central Beds and Milton Keynes councils are also each contributing up to £3 million.
