Almost 30,000 vehicles a day use this stretch of road, and the upgrade will increase safety and help take traffic away from local parishes.
The Department for Transport has given £23.5 million worth of funding from SEMLEP's Local Growth Fund for the project, while Central Beds Council and Milton Keynes Council are each contributing up to £3m.
The councils say the upgrade will provide future and existing residents with greater opportunities for leisure activities, housing and employment.

The coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown restrictions have had an impact on most construction projects, however, we’re pleased to report that overall the project is still broadly in line with the planned programme and is due for completion at the end of the year.
"We continue to ensure that work on site is in line with the latest government guidance to ensure staff are safe."
