Trio sentenced for robbery in Milton Keynes

Roy Munday, 49, of no fixed abode, Stefan Karlington, 23, of Melick Road, Beanhill and Louisa Thompson, 36, of Melick Road, Beanhill were sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday.

Munday was sentenced to four years and six months’ imprisonment after being found guilty of one count of robbery on September 16 following a trial.

Karlington was given three years and four months’ imprisonment and Thompson was given two years and six months’ imprisonment after they both pleaded guilty to one count of robbery on September 1.

The sentences are in connection with a robbery at a cash machine near the Co-Op in Fishermead on April 1.

The offenders had been watching a 24-year-old man withdrawing money and followed him when he left.

Munday and Karlington threw the victim to the ground, punched and kicked him, and stole cash and his mobile phone.

Munday was arrested on April 2 and charged the next day.

Karlington and Thompson were arrested on April 11 and charged the same day.

Investigating officer, detective constable Shannon Smith, said: “This was an unprovoked and violent attack on the victim purely because he had been seen to withdraw money for his rent.
“Thankfully the victim received no injuries as a result of this incident.

“This type of violent crime will not be tolerated within the Thames Valley area and the sentences which were issued reflect this.”
