A resident at Kents Hill Care Home has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Val Benford, who grew up in Fenny Stratford and has lived in the Milton Keynes area all her life, had the chance to take a trip down memory lane on May 9.
Her father owned and managed a butchers shop in Bletchley, which has been recreated and features within the fascinating Milton Keynes Museum. As part of Val’s birthday celebrations, a curator from the museum was invited to the care home to speak about the museum.
Val, who received a telegram and card from the Queen, worked as a secretary at a local building merchants for much of her working life and she also enjoyed travelling.
Carolyn Patterson, home manager, said: “Val is very much part of our community and extended family at Kents Hill Care Home. Her bubbly personality and happy face are part of what makes our Home a lovely place to work.”
