Turbine ban ‘not compatible’ with national law

PROPOSALS to move windfarms 1,000 metres away from houses could be in breach of national regulations, according to the Green Party.

Milton Keynes Council plans to alter their stance on wind turbines to move them further from residential areas. However, Alan Francis from the MK Green Party believes that the plan is short-sighted, and urges the council to rethink their policy rather than prevent future wind farms from being built.

Mr Francis said, “The proposals are not compatible with either local or national policies. The existing policy of 350m separation distance should be retained until a more reasonable policy, which does not ban all wind farms, has been developed. We need some guidance on locations but not a total ban.”
