Two Bristol City fans have been fined and handed three-year football banning orders after being convicted of possessing a flare at an MK Dons game.

James Alway, aged 20, from Wells, Somerset, and George Howe, aged 18, from Bristol, were convicted and sentenced at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court.

During the MK Dons football match against Bristol City on Saturday, August 24, both men were seen to be in possession of smoke bombs.

They were identified using CCTV inside stadium:mk and were arrested shortly after the offence.

Both men received fines of £305 and were given a three-year football banning order.

PC Jimmy O’Brien, the MK Dons Liaison Officer, said: “The fact that Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court had no hesitation in issuing both defendants with a three-year football banning order shows how serious this type of offence is taken by the justice system.

“MK Dons and Thames Valley Police will continue to work together to make stadium:mk and the city of Milton Keynes a safe and welcoming place for both home and visiting football supporters.”
