A spokesman described it as an “exciting first” for the area. The Committee in Milton Keynes is working very hard behind the scenes to raise funds required to put on the "mega" – which is a week-long festival of geocaching fun. Geocaching is a treasure hunt for the digital age. Participants use GPS coordinates and either a phone app or a GPS reader to guide them to hidden cache containers. Each cache contains a logbook which each geocacher signs when they find the cache. After that the cache is replaced so that it can be found by future cachers. As part of the fundraising efforts a ‘Christmoos Fayre’ was held at Scot’s sports and social club in Bletchley. Geocachers from across the country supported the Fayre while a fun Flashmob event was also planned to round off a great weekend.
A spokesman said: “The CEO of MKDons SET was really helpful in allowing us to put on our event at the stadium, in the same area that the Knife Angel was being displayed.
“Whilst Thames Valley Police knew that we were coming I’m not sure they knew what to expect?

We are grateful to Maralyn Smith of MKDons SET, for allowing us to congregate here. It is important to us, as the megaMK committee, to form good working partnerships within local community. We want to share all that Milton Keynes has to offer. To achieve this we need support along the way. Thank you for assisting us for this event.”The Flashmob mob was all over in 30 minutes given the freezing conditions. The geocachers had come to the city from far and wide for a weekend of fun and fundraising and that’s exactly what they got. Those present at the Stadium MK came from the Northeast, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Kent as well as Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Flitwick.
All of those in attendance took an opportunity to view the Knife Angel sculpture too which provided a thought provoking experience. If you would like to try geocaching you can find out more online.
