Unearth the mysteries of Archaeology at Milton Keynes library

If you dig all things history then you'll be happy to hear that the ever popular annual Archaeology Day at Milton Keynes Central Library is returning this November.

Celebrating its tenth year, this free event opens at 10am on Saturday, November 12 in the Central Library foyer/event space.

Hold on to your hats and embrace your inner Indiana Jones’ with a wide range of activities, workshops and displays for juniors and adults alike.

This year the day will uncover talks on fascinating projects such as the excavation of an Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Wolverton, initial results from Oxford’s largest ever archaeological excavation and a talk by Mark Knight.

The deputy mayor, David Hopkins will also be opening the event and for the younger excavators there will be a hands-on archaeology workshop.

Councillor Liz Gifford, said: “Archaeology Day is always exciting and a great way to celebrate the truly fascinating history in and around Milton Keynes. “It’s a fantastic day out for everyone.”

You can also warm your bones at the ‘Archaeology & Building Conservation’ exhibition in the Discover MK section of the Central Library from November 2.
