The Citizen had received reports that a body was retrieved from Stanton Low yesterday.

A large police presence was seen in the area, and the air ambulance was also on the scene.

The body is believed to have been retrieved from the water during the late afternoon.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police confirmed the incident and said: "It was a medical episode of a man on a canal boat.

"It is now a matter for the coroner and other than our attendance we have no further involvement."
