UPDATE: Man, 30, remanded in custody over charges of arson at Bletchley Mosque

A 30-year-old man was remanded in custody when he appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court this morning charged in connection with an arson at a Mosque in Bletchley.

Richard Bevington, of North Street, Bletchley, has been charged with one count of arson with intent to endanger life, one count of arson reckless as to whether life be endangered, one count of racially and religiously aggravated section 4a public order offence, one count of possession of class A drugs, namely cocaine, and one count of possession of a class B drug, namely cannabis.

The alleged offence happened in the early hours of Saturday.

Bevington has been remanded in custody to appear at Aylesbury Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on March 17. He was denied bail on the grounds he may fail to surrender into custody and that he may commit further offences while on bail.
