Milton Keynes has the “best cinema in the country” according to MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman, as he celebrated the launch of MK1’s ODEON.
The flagship cinema has 11 screens - with the largest IMAX screen being 18.5 metres wide and 10.3 metres high.
Speaking at the ODEON’s gala launch last night before it opened its doors to the public today, Mr Winkelman said: “When I first spoke to ODEON I said, if you come here, you have to produce the best cinema in the country.
“They took me seriously and they delivered.
“I think as of today, we have got the best cinema in the country.”
And Stephen Shaw, general manager at the MK1-based complex, believes Milton Keynes has now entered a new era in cinema following the closure of The Point.
He said: “It’s a cracking location to be in MK1.
“We kicked off the era of multiplex 30 years ago at The Point and we are redefining cinema today at the IMAX.”
