Volunteers help celebrate rugby’s biggest year!

More than 100 people have put their best foot forward to support Milton Keynes celebrate rugby’s biggest year. Volunteers are set to lend a helping hand at events during the Festival of Rugby 2015.

England Rugby 2015 and the Rugby Football Union (RFU) launched the Festival of Rugby 2015 programme enabling people to put on events across the UK.

Festival of Rugby Volunteer Tony Perkins, 62, Milton Keynes, has been selected by The Parks Trust to help deliver events. Tony has recently retired and is looking forward to the experience, he said: “This seems like a fantastic opportunity to get out and meet people in Milton Keynes.

“I am particularly looking forward to helping out at the 80s Lineout as there are some pretty big names at that event. I feel volunteering for this event is a way of giving a little bit back to Milton Keynes whilst people are able to get out and about and have fun.”

There are a number of people volunteering at The Festival of Ruby, including many local businesses who are providing people to help set up the site in the morningsFestival of Rugby Volunteer Assistant, Amanda Bailey, The Parks Trust, said: “We have been thrilled by the number of people signing up to volunteer during The Festival of Rugby 2015 programme of events. We have people giving up their free time to ensure other people enjoy their experience while celebrating rugby’s biggest year!

“We can’t thank our volunteers enough and really appreciate the time and enthusiasm in making our events a great success for the people of Milton Keynes.”
