Festive Road has delivered the large-sized carnival parade through the heart of town for the past four years, but failure to secure the necessary grants and donations in 2016 has left the group with no choice but to pull the plug.

“At Festive Road, like many arts organisations, we are reliant on grants and donations to do the work we do, and this is especially the case with our Walking With Giants Parade,” organisers said.

“Despite very generous awards of funding from MK Council and MK Community Foundation, there is still insufficient money in the pot to do justice to ourselves and, more importantly, the public; so we have made the tough decision to cancel this year’s Walking With Giants Parade,” they said.

“We will be back with next year holding a spectacular Parade to celebrate Milton Keynes’ 50th Birthday; the planning for which has already started and we have some initial funding in place.”

Meanwhile, Festive Road will be exhibiting a collection of their much-loved mechanical creations, and some new creatures, at the Barn Gallery, Westbury Arts Centre, as part of July’s 4th binennial MK Festival Fringe.
