Forty-eight players, some from as far as away as Scotland and Bristol, competed in two divisions, each playing seven games throughout the day at the Ridgeway Community Centre, North Furzton, in the first one-day tournament organised by Milton Keynes Scrabble Club.

Craig Solomons, from London, who won all seven games in Division A, took home prize money of £80. Rosalind Wilson, from Luton, who won all seven games in Division B, received prize money of £70.

Club chairman Paul Steadman said: “It was a pleasure to organise our first one day tournament. Everyone agreed that it was a very enjoyable day and well organised. We look forward to hosting more tournaments in the future.”
