'We can pay for Jimmy's funeral,' say homeless man's family

The family of the late Jimmy (James) Owens has asked the Citizen to apologise for any inference that a fund would be set up to pay for his funeral to prevent him facing a '˜pauper's burial'.

His family would like to make it clear that they will pay for the funeral.

The service will be held at Crownhill Crematorium on Friday at 1.15pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Milton Keynes Open Door project.

Jimmy was found dead in his tent pitched under a CMk underpass.

The third MK homeless man to die this year, he was popular with workers from Open Door and other charities who help homeless people.

“He was a great guy who is sadly missed,” said one.
