West Bletchley Councillors tackle the parking problems

The parish faces three different but inter-related challenges including ground rules or criteria about where new bays are suitable and appropriate. Earlier this month the West Bletchley Parish Councils Environment and Planning Committee gave Cllr Mick Legg approval to review the criteria for new parking bays.

“We face a major problem about understanding where it is possible to put in the much needed new parking,” Mr Legg said.

“That is why the committee agreed I should review the criteria so we can deliver more parking.”

In some areas utility services like gas, electricity, water, telephone lines etc are very need the surface.

So there is a need to identify grassed and paved areas where new parking bays would not be possible.

“We need to do survey work to be clear about which areas we can develop for extra parking,” Cllr Legg added.

“I am committed to working through all of West Bletchley with a view to identifying several hundred potential new parking bays over a period of times.

“Thirdly, in addition to identifying the much needed parking spaces we need to consult properly with residents. We know people want more parking; but not if it makes an area less attractive. I aim to lead the parish council’s work to deliver the new parking bays, in the right areas that residents want.”
