It's not long until the runners and riders for this year's council elections are announced.

From Thursday, MK Council candidates have two weeks to nominate themselves for election, ready to battle it out for votes on May 5.

One third of MK Council seats are up for grabs - and it’s sure to be an exciting election with the Conservatives fighting it out to become the largest party.

The Tories only need one seat to achieve this, but must win seven council seats out of 19 in order to take overall control.

Labour is currently the largest party with 23 councillors - although 10 are up for election.

The Lib Dems are trailing behind in third place with just 12 councillors.

Nominations open at 10am on Thursday, March 24 and close at 4pm on Thursday, April 7.
