WI holds successful meeting

The Aspley Guise Evening W.I. held another successful meeting when they met last Thursday.

Members were intrigued to hear anecdotes from Diana Payne, who had been with the Citizens Advice Bureau and a J.P. on the Bench for some 34 years. C.A.B. dealt with such diverse requests, from homelessness to ‘how do I turn the heel of the sock I am knitting’?

It seemed life on the Bench also had its moments: two murders, one on Boxing Day! No wonder she was awarded an M.B.E.

The group’s next meeting will be in a member’s garden, where they will celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. Everyone is welcome to the following meeting on 12th July in Aspley Guise Village Hall, 8pm, to hear Gillian Ashwell talk about Beads and Beadwork Jewellery.
