Woburn Sands church to host debate on EU Referendum

Residents in Woburn Sands are being given the chance to debate the EU Referendum over the next two weekends.

The sessions, The EU – REMAIN or BREXIT?, are being organised by the Rev Chris Beales, the vicar of St Michael’s Church, ahead of the referendum on June 23.

He said: “We are giving people the opportunity to think about the big issues regarding our nation’s membership of the European Union.”

The church has invited Paul Trendall, MK organiser of the Stronger In Campaign, to join the congregation this Sunday, June 12, with Iain Stewart, MP for MK South, to speak at our Family Communion Service on Sunday, June 19.

Each speaker will give a three-minute introduction, and asked to present their ‘big vision for the place of the UK in the coming years as part of a community of nations’.

They will each have five questions to respond to which include:

1 EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMY

2 IMMIGRATION AND SECURITY

3 HEALTH

4 SCIENCE

5 SOVEREIGNTY

Mr Beales added: “I am giving them both the same questions and everyone is welcome to come along for the service – there is a creche and Sunday school for children.

“There will be time for us to discuss these matters further over coffee at the end of the service.”

The sessions atart at 9.45am at the church in Woburn Sands.
