Fabulous and fun-loving woman who are more than half a century old are being encouraged to take part in the city’s first over 50s beauty pageant.
They need not be beautiful, slim or even glamorous – but they must be people who “live life to the full”, said organiser Patsy White.
She is staging the pageant in memory of her friend, who died of cancer last month at the age of 56.
“My friend asked me to promise to raise money for Macmillian cancer support charity after her death. I thought a pageant would be a perfect way to do it,” said Patsy, who lives in Broughton.
She has organised numerous pageants all over the country, though most of them are for younger women.
“The over 50s have a lot to offer. Pageants are great fun and there is no reason why older women cannot enjoy taking part in them too. The upper age limit is 70,” she said.
The pageant will be held on Novmber 28 at Emerson Valley Clubhouse. To enter email firstname.lastname@example.org
