SNO!zone Milton Keynes has hosted a World Record breaker of a night which saw one top snowboarder storm into the Guinness record books.

The Whitelines and EA Sports Rail Jam hosted at SNO!zone’s indoor snow slope was a huge success when 17-year-old Calum Paton set the new Guinness World Record for the longest ever rail slide on a snowboard at 78 metres, smashing the previous record by more than 10 metres.

Damian Doyle, events organiser at SNO!zone, said: “It was a great night and I’m so happy that Calum broke the record. Snowboarders from across the country attempted to break the record of 66.9 metres on our 90-metre specially built rail and it was amazing to bring the world record back to the UK.

“It was an epic night and SNO!zone is extremely proud to be a part of making history.”

Calum said: “I’m so stoked, I wasn’t expecting to do it at all. It feels so surreal that I actually hold a world record.”

The new record holder from Tamworth has now walked away with a £1,000 cash prize while 10 of snowboarders were also top winners of the night after impressing judges of their freestyle skills on the slope.

Ed Blomfield, Whitelines editor, said: “We’re so stoked Calum broke the record. It’s great both for him and for British snowboarding as a whole. We knew that with our thriving indoor scene the UK had some world-class rail riders, and this gave us a great opportunity to prove that.

“Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen, and nice one Calum.”

Whitelines is the UK’s most respected and renowned snowboarding brand which has been at the forefront of snowboarding culture since its inception.
