While the sun splits the sky and temperatures soar to highs of 20 degrees forecasters have issued a weather warning for tomorrow.
Scattered thunderstorms are likely to descend upon Milton Keynes as they sweep northwards across eastern and southeastern areas of England during the early hours.
The Met Office warns of “localised surface water flooding”, which may lead to disruption to transport and outdoor activities.
Frequent lightning could prove to be an additional hazard.
The thunderstorms are expected to clear away eastwards on Friday night, just in time for a heatwave to arrive over the weekend.
