Youngsters teach silver surfers a thing or two

Schoolchildren are putting their technological knowhow to good use, teaching the older generation a thing or two.

A local over-60s group has been learning how to get the best from their laptops, tablets and smartphones in a technology drop-in session with Denbigh School’s computing and business students.

Organiser Dave Hall said: “The over-60s group all said they had learned from the experience, and not only about IT. It was great to turn things on their head and have the youngsters teaching the ‘oldies’.”

Headteacher Simon Goodall said: “The drop-in proved to be a great success, not only with members of the over-60s group, who will now be able to make better use of their devices, but with our talented Year 9 students who have a great deal of technical knowhow and skills to offer the local community.”

If there any similar community groups eager to learn about IT, Denbigh School would like to hear from them at [email protected]
