A city volunteer and a youth worker have started the New Year on a high after scooping vInspired National Awards.
Emmanuel Ademolu and Matthew Seabrook were both named as regional winners in the All Round Commitment to Volunteering and the Outstanding Contribution categories respectively.
Musician and songwrIter Emmanuel, 21, from Shenley Brook End, started volunteering three years ago with Make a Difference.
He runs Open Mic nights and puts on shows for homeless people.
He said: “It’s such an honour for me to be presented with this award. I don’t volunteer for recognition, helping people is enough motivation. But it’s great to know that people appreciate what I do.”
Matthew, 39, from Bletchley, has been a St John Ambulance volunteer for more than 30 years and now trains and supports young members.
He manages a Badger Sett for five to 10-year-olds and is assistant manager in a Cadet unit for 11 to 18-year-olds.
The regional winners will be shortlisted as national finalists in February, with the national award winners revealed on March 27.
