Applications are open for the next series of Bake Off - here’s how to apply

If you fancy yourself as a hotshot baker, you now have a chance to prove yourself as The Great British Bake Off is calling for applicants for next year’s series.

Producers of the show are on the lookout for the best amateur bakers across the UK, with hopefuls in with a chance of becoming the twelfth winner to emerge from the Bake Off tent.

What is the eligibility criteria?

To apply for the show, you must be aged 16 years or above on January 1 2021 and a resident of the UK (including the Isle of Man and Channel Islands).

Bakers must also be able to commit to all the filming days required for the programme, which is expected to fall between April and August 2021.

Anyone who applies must never have been employed as a baker, cook or chef, and must also not earn their main source of income from commercial baking, or cooking in a professional environment.

When is the deadline?

Applicants for the twelfth series of the show are now open and the deadline for entries is Sunday 6 December at 23:59pm

If you want to try and take part in the show, you can apply online via The Great British Bake Off take part website.

If you cannot apply online, you can request an application form to be posted to you.

Will there be Covid-19 precautions again?

Love Productions, who produce The Great British Bake Off, have said they are closely monitoring the situation regarding Covid-19 and have warned this could alter how auditions for the show are carried out.

Producers have also said that they will notify applicants nearer the time if similar precautions to this year’s ‘Bake Off Bubble’ will need to be put in place for next season's filming.
