This £7.50 supermarket steak has been voted ‘one of the best in the world’

A £7.50 rib-eye steak from Morrisons has been voted one of the best in the world by meat experts.

The 21 day matured Best Shorthorn Rib-Eye Steak won Gold at the 2018 World Steak Challenge, beating steaks from breeds like Wagyu, Simmental and Aberdeen Angus.

The fourth annual World Steak Challenge included entries from 22 countries yet Morrisons’  British Shorthorn rib-eye steak was highly awarded by judges.

“Backing British beef”

The beef, which is known for its rich flavour and tender marbled meat, costs just £7.50 for 280g of steak.

Jodie Bolland, beef buyer at Morrisons, said: “We’ve always believed in backing British beef and so we are delighted to see Beef Shorthorn up there with the best in the world.”
