The first ever darts academy in Milton Keynes will open next Thursday to encourage young people to take to the oche.

The MK Darts Academy is the culmination of a year of work from Mark Holmes, dad of arrows ace Billy Holmes who is currently taking the British darts scene by storm.

Run out of the Double Top club in Wolverton, the Academy will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm-7.30pm.

“The aim of the academy is to offer a professional relaxed oppotunity for the younger generation to become involved in the darting phenom sweeping across the country,” said Mark.

“From total beginners to the more experienced youth player already involved in the game, we are here to give our students something new a facility they can attend without barriers.

“Milton Keynes is currently one of the countries hot beds for youth darts, boasting Fallon Sherrock in the top 10 of the ladies world rankings and Billy the current English open U18s singles champion.

“But unlike other towns and cities in the UK we have had nothing on offer until now.”

The academy will launch T 5pm next Thursday, September 11, with a free open day to give players from 10-21 years old the opportunity to give the game a go. Equipment to play will all be provided for players without their own.
