RIVER sport flooded off and ‘stillwaters’ full of cold murky rainwater – that was the weekend. But some still managed to catch!

Visitor Kirk Brightman (pictured above by Danie Grobler) went away happy after bagging this 22lb common from Furzton where, reported by bailiff Ted Mason, Brian Budd had three bream for 14lb from the point.

And Josh Ward included the 2-3 perch, pictured left, in his 3-5 to win the MKAA junior match on Tear Drops. George Coates had 1-1 and Ryan Keane 0-7.

TOWCESTER’s carp record was beaten by just half an ounce as Darren Sylvester landed a 19-10-8 Bairstows mirror.

ONE river match which did happen was DATS’ do on the Main above the weir. Rus Nash had a 5-4 tench in his 6-2-8 as Martin Cunniffe weighed in 4-13 and Darren Haseldine 4lb.

TENCH were also on for Ernie Sattler in MK vet’s Black Horse cut midweeker as he had a big brace in his 9-13. Paul Neave did 6-4 – all roach – and John Hewison 5-9. The previous week had seen the elderly crew on Alders where Bill Lovelock won with 156-12 ahead of Lancaster brothers Terry, 97-8, and Charlie 91-4.

THE Alders’ Sunday open went to Colin Fosdyke, 208lb, with Gary Thorpe 203lb and Nick Darke 191lb.

OSPREY’s Pidley lake trip saw Tony Wynick on 115lb as Steve Potter netted 112lb and Loll Summers 95lb.

FOLLOWING a blank on flooded Lodge Rob Buckner moved to the canal where small perch and a mini-common were followed by a 2-7 perch which made his day.

OLNEY’s Tuesday open went to Les Wallis with 9-11 which included a 7lb bream. Ron Bull had 5-10 and Eamon Kelly 5-1.

WAYNE Roberts topped Towcester’s Bairstows open with 6-3-8 of bits. George Cooke had 4-13 and Mick Goodridge 4-11.

TOSH Saunders topped Towcester vets sweep on the Navvi with 6lb followed by Mick Read 5-10 and Walt Ashby 3-8.

AN MKAA clubs’ knock-up on Mill Road cut went to Chris Malia with a two-bream 5-1-8 as Rus Nash had a smaller brace, 4-14-8, and Steve Schubert 4-13-8.

AUSTIN Maddock has had two Beacon wins in a row – this week with 13-2 on Stoke Hammond cut as Steve Emerton caught 7-4 and Graham Allan 5-3 – and with 7-2 on Stony Island the week before.

A pound was enough to put Rupert Ash top of Calvert’s latest Claydon lake do with Derek Bishop and Barry Witteridge both on 0-1. Most surprised was Dave Lewis – who caught a saw from peg 13!
