GONEFISHIN are walking tall as MKAA winter league champs, having dominated the series from start to finish.

And what a strange series it was, having – despite producing a raft of big perch and chub weights – recorded the lowest-ever average per-man per-match of 2-13.

Sunday’s final round, fished on the Stony Ouse in wind-driven rain, sleet and snow, saw GoneFishin’s (GF) Lee Jones win with 10-2 of Brush Mill perch ahead of Ampthill’s Dave Gisbourne 8-11 and Raiders’ Mick Hefferon 5-14.

GF were top on the day, 24 points, with Ampthill 19 and Olney 18. Final table: GF 83, MK Angling Centre Black 72, Ampthill 64, Olney 57, Raiders 55, MK Sharks 45.

On the same stretch Tony Witten bagged seven chub to 5-6 – and lost five including a real biggie – on maggot and size 16.

Brothers Chris and Ben Milah had a ball on DATS’ Stony Main with Chris getting 11 chub – best 7-3, 6-12 and 6-6, plus four perch for 38lb as Ben had 21lb of stripeys.

Kevin Wilkie broke his own PB THREE times in one Ouse trip at Olney with five perch between 2lb and 3-6...and had a 5-8 tench.

The Sherington pits British Pike Champs qualifier saw the top nine land 16 snappers for 96-3. Chris Puddleford won with 32-14 (pictured below) ahead of Dave Westley 27-5 and Sean Cahill (biggest pike at 16-4) on 23-8.

Alders Farm’s open saw Simon Edwards scoop the ‘super pool’ payout with 163lb of carp. Baz Mason had 124lb and Richard Brain 99lb.

Another long haul to an Essex carp lake by Osprey saw Matt Grant on 128-13 ahead of Lol Sommers 80lb and Mick Whitmore 75lb.

When Towcester Vets fished the Broadwater Tove they shared 16 pike which didn’t count. John Balhatchett won with 8-10 of perch. Andy Jones 5-5 and Tosh Saunders 4-12.

Jeff Byron won White Hart Dagenham’s Whitings sweep with a 5-15-8 chub and bits for 10lb. Martin Searle had 3-13-8 and Michael Elsom 3-3.

Towcester trounced Daventry in their Super-Cup clash on the Tove. Brothers Mick and Les Goodridge were the top individuals with 7-11 and 3-13 of perch.

Beacon’s Little Pit do belonged to Jeff Duguid on 6-10 as Austin Maddock caught 1-13 and a last-gasp 5-14 bream put Henry Snell top in MK Vets’ below-par Riverside Ouzel do. Bill Carder, 1-13, also weighed...
