Athletics: Relay good time for MK runners

MARSHALL Milton Keynes Athletic Club had an excellent turnout for the English Cross Country Relays at Mansfield, with the junior women just missing out on medals.

They finished 4th thanks to fine running from Elle Roche (11th) taking 9m 12.00s, Rebecca Marshall (6th) in 9m 22.75s and Gemma Childs (4th) 9m 33.70s.

The next best result came from the club’s U13 boys with 12th spot courtesy of Alfie Yabsley (7th) 7m 17.25s, Jake Cox (15th) 8m 00.45s and Harvey Green (12th) 7m 45.65s.

The U15 boys were 19th with Archie Rippin (29th) 7m 02.50s, Toby Herdman-Smith (25th) 7m 12.00s and Owen Seamark (19th) 7m 01.10s, while the B Team were 60th thanks to George Wheeler (82nd) 7m 44.95s, George Glinski (72nd) 7m 55.25s and Charles Wheeler (60th) 7m 42.90s.

It was 20th for the U17 women with Sophia Cliffe (24th) 9m 52.55s, Jess Hall (24th) 10m 09.35s and Fern Yull (20th) 10m 04.40s, as the B Team finished 39th courtesy of Emily Bousfield (59th) 10m 53.95s, Chelsea Hunt (54th) 10m 49.85s and Amy Botham (39th) 10m 19.60s.

The senior women finished in 35th place with Lara Bromilow (42nd) 11m 20.25s, Jessica Webb (35th) 12m 02.55s and Charlotte Harris (35th) 12m 03.40s, while the U13 girls were 51st with Emma Mears (29th) 8m 22.25s, Chloe Collett (43rd) 9m 01.00s and Rhona Grant (51st) 9m 27.35s.

It was one place worse for the senior men with Sam Deathe (95th) 17m 58.80s, Matt Eager (70th) 17m 04.95s, Paul Erwood (65th) 17m 41.95 and Tom Comerford (52nd) 17m 12.30s.

Sixtieth place awaited the U15 girls team of Amy Radford (15th) 7m 43.50s, Holly Hunt (71st) 9m 36.45s and Sophie Botham (60th) 8m 24.30s, while the U17 men were 64th thanks to Ben James (68th) 10m 50.10s, Mick Greener (78th) 11m 51.40s and Oli Lum (64th) 11m 14.50s.

Meanwhile just three club members participated in the Candleford Canter Women’s 10k, but still grabbed two veteran titles, and Alex Knowles (1st F45) was also the 2nd runner home in 41m 10s, setting a personal best time in the process.

In 8th place was Di Baldwin (1st F55) taking 43m 23s and it was 16th for Maria Calleia (F40) who crossed the line in 46m 42s.
