CONTINUING a great start to the Indoor season for Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club, Chuko Cribb won the M20 triple jump at the Midlands Indoor Championships in Birmingham with a clearance of 13.82m.

At the same meeting, although not qualifying for the 200m final, F17 Elysia Marriott ran a new personal best of 27.61s.

At the same venue but in the Midlands Indoor Open Meeting, M17 Lee Westley set two PBs, first in the 60m with 7.50s, and in the 200m finishing in 23.73s, while fellow M17 Caleb Simon ran 9.29s in the 60m.

In senior events, Joey Duck continued her comeback with a 60m time of 7.88s and 200m of 24.37s, while Chris Clarke ran the 200m in 21.17s, Nic Williams in 23.64s and Ivars Licietis (M55) 26.79s.

The good news continued in north London at the Southern Veterans Indoor Champs at Lee Valley as John Browne won the M55 60m title in 7.9s.

Unsurprisingly the attendance for the rearranged South of England Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields in London was much lower than expected for the original postponed race.

Competing for the senior men were; 131st Steve Herring (pictured) who was back in just under an hour with a time of 59m 52s, while 10 places behind was Mark Dowson in 60m 19s, followed by 168th Gary Blaber 61m 46s, 311th Andy Wasdale 68m 59s and 416th Paul Mason 74m 56s.

Only Lara Bromilow contested the senior women’s race and finished 41st in 33m 41s, similarly the U20 men just had 64th placed Ryan Burling 31m 39s in the small but high quality field.

It was not much better for the U17 women with 42nd Jasmine Finlay 21m 56s and 51st Ellie Hemming 22m 29s, while the U15 boys had Jacob Tresham crossing the line in 17m 47s for 127th place.

Three runners contested the U15 girls race for the club with Amy Radford 15m 36s in 50th spot, chased by 59th Sophie Botham 15m 51s and 139th Isabella Thornton-Bett in 17m 41s. The U13 boys also had a solo entry with Harvey Green finishing 48th in 11m 40s.

There was more success at the Hardwick Cross Country Race for 44th placed Kelvin Smith as he grabbed the M60 title in 46m 39s with 60th for Stephen Howe (M55) 48m 50s, 64th Michael Groom (M55) 49m 12s, 65th John Wilkinson (M55) 49m 16s, 174th Alison Ray (F40) 64m 33s and 214th Chris Ryder (F45) 72m 01s.

On the roads at the Wokingham Half Marathon, Alison Ray (F40) was 1644th taking 2h 03m 01s, while at the aptly named Brass Monkey 10k in Corby, Terry Down (M55) was 29th in 42m 18s and Geoff New (M45) took 42m 56s for 33rd spot.

In Southport at the Maddog 10km race Alex Knowles was the 1st F45, finishing 6th female overall, just crossing the line one second under the 40 minute mark.
