OLNEY ski racer Beth Soman is enjoying a rich vein of form having achieved three 2nd place finishes while competing at top indoor competitions across the UK in the last month.

The 13-year-old came 2nd for her age group in the Milton Keynes Club National competition in June and followed that up with two more runner-up finishes at events in Scotland at the start of July.

Those two races make up part of the British Indoor Ski Race Series, which has one race to go this season, coming up at Castleford in August, with Beth currently 3rd in the overall standings.

Beth, who took up racing at the age of eight and trains at Snozone MK, has spent time training with the Ambition Ski Race Team, developing her skills in all disciplines from slalom and giant slalom, to the rather ominous sounding super-giant slalom.

The youngster certainly has a talent for ski racing, proved by her 2009 success in becoming British Indoor champion for her age group. And despite a couple of knocks, she doesn’t lack any confidence either, declaring that a place on the Winter Olympics podium is her ultimate ambition.
