POTENTIAL future Olympians from Milton Keynes topped the medal table at this year’s Bucks School Games Festival held at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.

The ‘mini-Olympic’ style competition saw 1,300 young athletes from across the county travel to Aylesbury to compete at the birthplace of the Paralympic Games, with an opening ceremony followed by action across 10 sports as youngsters proudly wore the colours of one of eight local areas.

The day also promoted Olympic and Paralympic values, and the focus was on participation by Bucks’ young people with disabilities, girls and other under-represented groups.

Athletes from Milton Keynes enjoyed the day full of sport and activities, and brought home 21 medals in sports ranging from swimming to athletics.

This year the city was split into two teams, MK North and MK South, with the North topping the table on a total of 12 medals, doing particularly well in girls’ football and table tennis.
