Mount Farm’s silverfish really came on for Beacon’s latest charity match, with roach, rudd and skimmers being caught all round the pit.

And with 30 tickets sold, the 42-hour event raised some £840 for Willen Hospice in a match held in memory of Geraldine Haynes, who passed away earlier this year.

Fittingly it was her husband, Brian, who took top spot with 26lb of roach and rudd plus four tench for a 38lb total. Ian Knott had 21-4 and Jake Stratton 17-4.

By contrast – and in contrast to years past – silvers were few and far between in the Olney-run Citizen Cup...which is strange as hordes of them have been showing upstream on the Adams Mill, Sherington and Ravenstone stretches.

Ernie Sattler scooped the £500 top prize guaranteed by the club with 9-2-8 – 8-2 of which was ONE bream on poled worm!

Mick Stanley had two bream and a perch for 8-12-8 as Dave Tebbutt netted a 4-6 tench and bits for 7-12. Eddie Ford had two perch, a tench and bits for 7-9. Unluckiest rod was the man who lost FOUR good tench during the match.

A New PB was Rebecca Leak’s reward when, while out with Dean Seath on Furzton, she landed the fin-perfect common (pictured).

Reporting through Tackle Hub, Sam Hussain has been catching numbers of doubles from Furzton.

Far from good news, a Willards’ customer – having had two 4 pounders – reports canal zander are still showing at Stoke Bruerne.

Towcester’s Canons Ashby do saw Paul Robinson find enough carp for 58lb with Les Goodridge and John Broughton tied on 42-8.

An MKAA club get-together on Furzton saw Ernie Sattler winning yet another match as he bagged 56lb of slabs on the tip. Paul Abbott had 18-4 with Rob Dzilak and Lee Jones both on 18-9.

Towcester vets, Stockton: Simon Cordingley 37-10 (crucians), Chris ‘Mr Crabtree’ Howard 20-2 of roach on elderberries, George Mynards 15-13.

Newport, Sherington Ouse open: Paul Abbott won (second time in a row from same peg) with 18-14 of bits; Steve Glidewell 12-1, Dave Tebbutt 10-7.

Calvert, Woodfields: Dave Lewis 15lb Derek Bishop 11-14, John Weatherall 7-1.

Kingfisher, Bletchley boatyard canal: Steve Chilton 9-5, Jeff Duguid 5-14, Robin Lett 5-6.

MK vets, Ouse, Toombs and Stony Main: Alan Ford 7-14, Steve Chilton 7-4, Mick Hefferon 4-14.

Linford, Boatyard canal: Chris Spearman 5lb, John Hough 2-1, Nick Barker 1-14.

Fixtures: Furzton Lake sections A, B and C closed all day Friday, through Saturday to 6pm Sunday for 36 hour ‘Festival carp match (proceeds to Willen Hospice).

Still a few tickets left at GoneFishin on 01908 313158. Event includes Nash Tackle roadshow (free entry) on ‘the point’ inc casting clinic, bait-making, tuition etc, starting lunchtime, Saturday.
