THE Milton Keynes Table Tennis League held a tournament at the Kingston Centre last week with 17 players from Division Seven up to the Premier taking part, but one man dominated proceedings.
The handicap singles final saw Craig Brown of MK Spinners (-4 handicap) beat Dave Wackrill of MK Stormers (-2), taking the first of all three titles on offer.
The initial group stages produced some surprises, including Premier players losing to players from lower divisions, and one being eliminated from the competition before the knockout stages.
In the potluck doubles event – played on a knockout basis between eight pairs – Brown and Henry Loo of Division Three side MK Auriga beat Dave Wackrill and David Bartlett of Division Five Mursley Swifts in the final.
The popular ‘hard bat’ competition was also played with the competitors having to adjust to playing with ‘old style’ bats.
The final was between that man Brown again and Luca Fossati of Premier side OU Pavilion – with Brown winning the title to complete a clean sweep in all three events.
