Three Orbit Trampoline ladies have been on a high this week after they won team gold at the British Championships in Birmingham.

Rebekah Bridge, Laura Wright and Cara Stubbs claimed the over 19 team title after their individual efforts gave them the best overall team score at the weekend.

There was also a bronze medal for Hogan Leung in the U17 Boys category.

Nine Orbit members had qualified for the finals at the LG Arena, while three others narrowly missed out on the big event – the process of honing routines, refining techniques and battling with injuries to gain the necessary qualifying scores going back to January.

Saturday’s opening day saw competitors battle it out for a top eight place that would see them go through to Sunday’s showdown for medals in their respective groups.

Roisin O’Brien got off to a fine start in the U19 Ladies category for Orbit as she completed a very stylish routine, but out of the 29 entrants she finished 11th and didn’t progress.

In the O19 Ladies, Rebekah gave two sparkling routines to leap into Sunday’s final in 2nd place, and was soon joined by Laura in 5th. However, a 17th place finish for Cara brought an early end to her event, but her score would still prove to be vital for the team.

Leung sealed his final spot by coming 7th in the U17 Boys, while in the U19 Ladies Fig B, Dayle Walker finished in 17th, Martyn Howard earned a date in Sunday’s final with a 2nd place finish in Men’s fig B, and Lewis Wheeler missed out in 9th spot in the Boys U17s Fig B.

In the sudden death finals, Rebekah dropped to 5th place and Laura 7th, but with Cara’s score added, the trio took the overall team gold medal.

Martyn went on to take 5th place in the final, while Hogan performed a very good routine that was only bettered by two rivals as he finished in the bronze medal position.
