Splashing time for city swimmers

FOUR gold, six silver and 16 bronze medals were the reward for City of Milton Keynes members at a recent level one open meet in Coventry.

And that experience will prove to be valuable when the club host their own quality competition at Bletchley Leisure Centre this weekend.

Merryn Odell (100m breaststroke), Jason Ashley (50m breast), Aaron Lee, (50m back) and Helen Odams (200m butterfly) were gold winners on the day, while Sydney Wood had a very consistent day and won the 10 year-olds Bagcat points award.

There were two silver medals for Oliver Lines in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke, while Helen Odams added to her gold medal with a silver in the 50m breaststroke, plus there were silver medals for Sunkyu Han (50m breast), Matthew Murray (50m butterfly) and Jason Ashley (50m fly).

There were four bronze medals for Jason Ashley, plus three apiece for Sydney Wood and Max Murphy, and one for Lucy Farmer, Matthew Murray, Miles McAuliffe, Oliver Lines, Chris Forshaw and Conrad Webber.

CMK’s top action continues this weekend with over 300 swimmers expected to take part in the club’s own level two open meet.

A total of 24 clubs will send teams and the hosts will have 80 of their own youngsters aged between nine and 16 taking to the 25m pool in search of personal best times and more medals.
