Super silvers from Inter-County match

FIFTEEN Marshall Milton Keynes AC athletes were selected for the Southern Inter-County Under 15/20 match at Abingdon and a third of them secured medals for their counties.

Top of the list with silver medals were Devon Byrne (F20) putting the shot 10.28m and Redford Curtis (M15) throwing the javelin 47.63m.

Jonathan Pownall (M15) once again made the podium with his club-mate after he took the bronze medal in the javelin by throwing 44.96m, and there were bronzes for Daniel Oderinde (M15) as he finished the 100m in 11.26s and a third javelin medal came courtesy of Jackson Curtis (M20) with his 54.11m effort for 3rd spot.

Just out of the medal places in 4th position was Chuko Cribb (M20) with a good clearance of 13.56m in the triple jump, while also competing but not making the podium were U15s Melody Brammer with 13.7s for 5th in the 100m heats and Daniel Oderinde who won his heat in 11.43s, plus Amy Botham 28.34s for 7th in the 200m heats; Archie Rippin 1st in 800m heat in 2m 14.38s; Harry Morton 4m 39.75s for 12th in 1500m; Tyrell Dankwa 4.87m for long jump 13th; Jonathan Pownall 30.65m for 7th and in the hammer Laeken Impey finished 5th with 35.23m.

For the U20s in the 100m Subomi Onanuga was 2nd in the heats 11.33s and 6th in the final 11.29s. It was 8th place in the long jump for Devon Byrne 5.00m, Sam Ridgway was 13th in the shot 13 9.48m and 6th in the hammer 49.71m and in the javelin Devon Byrne 35.77m was 6th and Jack Panter 7th 46.40m.

There were more personal best performances at the latest Watford Open Meeting mainly in the 400m with Sam Deathe lowering his best to 52.14s, Archie Rippin (M15) 57.13s, Amy Botham (F15) 62.60s and Vicky Ashley (F17) 66.27s, with Adam Smith (M20) running just off his best in 50.55s.

Three more PBs arrived in the 1500m for Mark Dowson 4m 26.17s, Dominic Murphy (M13) 4m 48.83s and Cameron Beazley-Clarke (M13) 5m 17.43s, with Chris Hearn 4m 03.46s, Ryan Burling (M20) 4m 15.85s, Adam Atkins 4m 19.74s, Elle Roche 4m 50.95s, Tanya Taylor 4m 53.66s, Emily Bousfield (F17) 5m 09.43s and Lauren Murphy (F13) 5m 21.38s.

There were also two PBs in the 3000m again for Sam Deathe 8m 46.36s and Archie Rippin (M15) 10m 31.93s with Matt Eager (M20) finishing in 8m 58.04s and Josh Knight (M17) 9m 29.65s, while in the discus Emma Beales (F35) threw 42.57m. And at the Birchfield Open Meeting Mervyn Luckwell threw 70.08m in the javelin.

In a quiet week on the roads at the Burnham Beeches Half Marathon Kelvin Smith (M60 )was 134th taking 1h 36m 52s with Geoff New (M45) in 220th 1h 42m 31s and Maria Calleia (F35) 256th with a time of 1h 45m 28s.
