WITH the Open Water season now in full flow, and as the final part of their South East Talent Development programme, two Central Milton Keynes Club swimmers took to the sea in the South West Regional Championships.

The competition took place off the coast of Weymouth where Emma Joyce and Christian Revell both produced excellent swims, taking silver medals in both the men’s and women’s three kilometre race for swimmers aged 15-18 respectively.

Christian finished in a time of 40 minutes and 16 seconds, with Emma returning home just one second slower in what proved an extremely close contest in all age groups.

The following week saw three CMK swimmers in action at the Midland Championships held at Bosworth Lake in Leicester where Graham Joyce joined Emma and Christian in doing the club proud.

This time the city swimmers competed with very strong competition from the England Talent squad who were out in force. Christian finished 8th in the men’s 3k in a time of 33 minutes 58 seconds, while Graham and Emma Joyce both competed at the 5k distance.

Graham finished as 7th male in a time of 55 minutes 17 seconds and Emma was again on top form as she sealed the bronze medal in the Girls Junior Championship, and also finished as the 4th overall woman in 55 minutes 39 seconds.
