MK Squash Club at Kiln Farm hosted the first ever Milton Keynes squash and racquetball championships at the weekend.
The event, which followed a very successful exhibition evening in which England player Olly Pett took on local star Mahdi Ali, was the first of two tournaments to be held for players of all standards in the city this year.
In both racquetball and squash competitions, the top two seeds battled their way through the early rounds to meet in the final.
In racquetball, Mike English defeated Matthew Wixted 3-0 in an entertaining game lasting 30 minutes.
The squash final was a very competitive affair in which No.1 seed Steve McBride beat off a spirited challenge from Martin Johnson, winning 3-0. The two are pictured, above.
MK Squash club, whose aim is to hold the largest squash competition in the south of England, will again host the tournament planned for October. Watch out for more details on the club website www.mksquash.co.uk
