COINCIDING with the start of half term, a smaller than normal contingent of Team MK youth riders made the short trip to Brackley for round five of the Central Cyclo-Cross League.
The overnight frost gave way to morning sunshine on Saturday, which did little to lift the temperature during the day.
In the U10s category, Alex Wetherill and Alexander Russell continued their close rivalry, with Alex coming out on top this week as 1st boy, and Jude Chamberlain took 3rd place to complete a podium clean sweep for Team MK.
Molli Keenor was beaten for the first time this year in the girls category, finishing 2nd, with Emily Moon in 4th.
A smaller than usual field assembled for the U12s race, with Skip Snelson riding well to finish 3rd, while Nic Day and Matthew Dicks were 6th and 9th respectively.
In the U14 race Elliot Haigh made the podium as he took a fine 3rd place finish, while Marcus Burnett was the sole Team MK representative in the U16 boys category and finished in 5th position.
In the girls category, Elizabeth Shirley was beaten for the first time this year, finishing in 2nd place – and no doubt hindered by losing a tooth on the start line.
There were three Team MK riders in the novice race, with Paul Haigh taking the win. Andrew Russell was 4th and Paul Moon followed up last week’s debut with a 5th place finish.
